I started in the body shop with my uncle when I was around 5 pushing a broom and by 14 I was doing all tasks in the shop from the frame machine to the spray booth. Arborist/horticulturist by trade these days but still have been restoring cars along the way. Fast forward to Vw’s, starting late 2020, my wife and I were at the beach and she told me that if she could have any old car it would be a beetle convertible. So we found one and it needed everything so I built a stand for the body, disassembled it and went to work. I let her pick all colors, upholstery, and top. The day I first drove it home, I fell in love with it and bought my 70 the next day, which was a decent driver but I had good plans for it. So that one went on the stand the next winter and the rest is history. I’ve completed 3 full restorations from all the body work to paint and now building my own engines. I always wanted a Westy bus, so last year I bought Forest (77 Westy) and we camped with it 5 times this year. Now onto another bay window bus that I’d like to setup as a Photo Booth for business, and market the cars for photo sessions such as weddings, etc. I am always building, buying, fixing or painting a vw these days. I do my work between my little house garage, and the bigger of projects and paint at my shop at work. I have been doing some jobs such as convertible tops, and upholstery as well on these.
