Husband / father
Bought my 1975 Canadian standard in March 1997 it was the first car I ever bought. I was 23 years old and I can’t believe I still have her. I call her The “Outlaw” for a few reasons one is because everybody back then we’re buying the early pre-67 Beetles And I was the only one dumping my money into a late mod when nobody else was so she was a bit different and of course she’s heavily tricked out! 16x7’s all around Fuchs on 205s , I was one of the first people to have a 3 inch narrowed beam back in the 90s. She has a really fat stance!! Fully ported in polished2161cc motor with 48 IDA’s and a close ratio transmission and other upgrade goodies., I met some of my best friends in this community not knowing at the time how big it actually is one thing I love about this community is and not to put other car groups down but there’s just something about Volkswagen people they all love helping each other out there’s no attitude or arrogance. Eventually after many hours of volunteer work,I became a member of the DVKK !! short for Der Volksrennwagen Kafer Klub , one of the elitist air cold Volkswagen clubs in Western Canada and I’ve been a part of the great Canadian Volkswagen show weekend since it’s 7th show. It’s been growing strong since 1991. I’ve always loved cars and how they demanded respect when they were just done right everybody would look and check one out old or young. I grew up in East Vancouver as a troubled youth never really understanding School eventually being diagnosed with ADHD and dyslexia, I turned my life around when I got into Volkswagens and never looked back also growing up as a son of immigrants from India there aren’t really many of us in the air-cooled world. Eventually, I would love to start a cruise, especially geared towards older gentlemen, as I’m turning 52 in September and know what it’s like to stay on top of your mental health men who have children who are flying the coop or have become single or for any other reason, there’s just not enough help around even in this day and age to bring awareness and help for men. I’d like to have something where we can get together once a month and just talk.
