I helped start and create a VW event at our local dragstrip; US131 EuroFest . 20 years ago 2 local VW events ended. I didn't want to see VW dragracing end in Michigan. So I cold called our local track and discussed this. Long story short, the family that runs the track agreed to start up a new VW event complete with drag race, car show and swap meet. 20 years later we are still going strong. The track runs and manages the event. I am still involved and help any way I can.
I started dragracing myself as a result of my involvement with the US131 EuroFest (formerly US131 Bug Run). I started dragracing a sand rail, then a 64 beetle and now a 70 beetle. I have won at the US131 EuroFest multiple times, Summer Nationals in Ohio, Scott Pacaro's race at Mason Dixon and also the VW invasion at Sumerduck raceway.
Also, a few years ago I started a monthly VW cruise in at a local Dairy Queen.
Jack Sims contacted me and suggested I register here and work with you to tell my VW story.
