My VW story begins before I can remember. I was around two years old when my teenage aunt had a Beetle and my interest was sparked. I have no memory of that car when it was running or when I played in it after she wrecked it. However, my earliest memory is when I was three years old and my grandparents bought a junk '59 Beetle for $60 for me to play in. I picked it out myself. I still have that one today 37 years later. I've owned around 30 VWs total, currently my '63 Bus, '73 Baja project and 2010 GTI.
I got my dad and youngest brother into VWs as well. I've been involved with a VW show here in Alabama since 2005 and been the head of it since 2011.
Volkswagens are so interwoven with my life I can't imagine it without them. So many of my closest friends I met because of these cars. It's what everyone who has ever known me remembers about me. Even when I ran into my kindergarten teacher , she asked if I still liked Volkswagens.
I've also contributed two articles so far to VW Trends magazine, with more in the works. VW Trends, Hot VWs and those old Auto Trader classifieds are how I learned to read at age 3.
My grandmother once said that she's convinced my blood cells are shaped like tiny Beetles and Buses just zipping through my veins like highways.
